Simple Robbery
August 09, 2018

 

Lafayette Crime Stoppers need your help identifying suspects responsible for a simple robbery that occurred at a local gas station in Lafayette. 

 

On July 28, 2018, two males entered a local gas station and forced their way behind the counter.  The males proceeded to remove numerous cartons of cigarettes as the store clerk attempted to fight them off.  Both suspects are described as black males, appear to be in their 20’s, and both were wearing a white t-shirt and baseball caps.  They were seen fleeing the location in a red, four door sedan.  We believe these suspects are responsible for a very similar crime that occurred recently at another local gas station, so we need your help Acadiana.  If you know the identity of the suspects involved or have any information about this crime, call Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS or you can submit your tip by using our P3 Tips Mobile App. 

 



HOMICIDE
July 27, 2018

 

Lafayette Crime Stoppers needs your help identifying the suspect in connection with a homicide.

 

On May 25, 2018, the Broussard Police Department responded to Pine’s Apartments, located at 219 Leon Street, in reference to a disturbance in progress involving weapons and multiple gunshots were heard.  Responding officers found the victim, Leon Williams Jr, who succumbed to injuries from multiple gunshot wounds.  The suspect is described as a black male wearing a dark colored pants and light colored shoes.  The pictured vehicle was seen leaving prior to officer’s arrival.  Witnesses state a silver 4 door car was seen leaving the area shortly after the shooting. Evidence on scene indicates victim fought with his killer and that the suspect may have sustained injuries as a result of the altercations.

THEFT
July 19, 2018

 

Lafayette Crime Stoppers needs your help identifying the suspects in reference to a theft.

 

The University Police Department responded to a theft which occurred on July 4, 2018, at the Central Receiving Building located at 184 E. Lewis Street.  At approximately 6:30p.m., video surveillance captured a Polaris Ranger XP High Lifter 900 pulling a black utility trailer arriving in the area of Johnston Street and East Lewis Street.  Seven (7) minutes later, the UTV was seen leaving the area with two (2) University owned Gravely Pro-Turn 200 commercial lawn mowers (72" deck) loaded on the trailer along with traffic cones. A green four passenger John Deere XUV550 Gator was also stolen.  The suspects are two white males and the driver has a distinctive hand/wrist brace on his left hand.  The suspects may have ties to a lawn service.

BUSINESS BURGLARY

Lafayette Crime Stoppers needs your help identifying the suspects in reference to a business burglary.

 

On June 21, 2018 Lafayette Police responded to a burglary alarm at Capitol Cyclery, 4498 Johnston Street.  Upon arrival officers observed forced entry and several bikes and designer sunglasses taken. The suspects arrived on a side by side ATV which was used to transport the stolen items. Video surveillance showed the ATV fled toward the Sycamore Drive and Birch Drive area prior to officers' arrival.  Officers believe the side by side ATV was transported to the area by an extended cab Chevrolet pickup pulling a tandem axle cargo trailer.

SIMPLE BURGLARY
July 05, 2018

Lafayette Crime Stoppers needs your help in identifying the suspect wanted for simple burglary.

 

During the early morning hours of June 17, 2018, video surveillance captured a suspect entering onto the property grounds of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Community Corrections Campus located at 100 Poydras St.  The suspect is seen walking around the property, flipping the breakers on an outdoor breaker box, then eventually breaking a window to a classroom and making entry into one of the buildings.  Once inside, a vending machine was pried open and cash was stolen.  The suspect appears to be a male, above average height, skinny, and walks with a slight limp as he steps with his right leg.

AGGRAVATED BURGLARY

VEHICLE BURGLARIES

On June 8, 2018, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple vehicle burglaries in the area of La Neuville Rd.  Several vehicles were burglarized on Vivian and Kaiser Drive and on Cherry Bark and Huckleberry Lane.  All of the vehicle burglaries occurred during daylight hours. The suspect was captured on video wearing a bandana and gloves to hide his identity. The suspect appears to be a white male, tall, and slim. The suspect was confronted by a resident and fled on foot, jumping over fences and was able to evade law enforcement.

Pigeon Drop Scam

On May 30, 2018, two females approached an elderly victim at the Goodwill store located at 3803 Ambassador Caffery Park Way. The females gained the victim's trust and convinced her to withdraw a large sum of money for an investment opportunity.  The suspects accompanied the victim to the Walgreens store located at 2517 Kaliste Saloom Road, where they stated the managing investment banker was waiting to speak with her. The victim went inside the store but could not find the person she was told to speak with. When she exited, both females were gone with her money.  The suspects were both wearing hats and the female wearing the sunglasses had several gold teeth.

VEHICLE BURGLARY/ATTEMPTED VEHICLE BURGLARY

Lafayette Crime Stoppers needs the public's help in identifying a suspect wanted for simple burglary and attempted simple burglary.

On April 24, at approximately 5:32 a.m., video surveillance captured the suspect as he allegedly attempted to make entry into the victim's truck, which was locked.

The suspect then entered the victims shed where, police say, several power tools were stolen.

Sheriff's deputies later located the stolen tools behind a neighbor's air conditioning unit. Deputies believe the tools were positioned in a way, indicating the suspect planned on returning to retrieve them.

Police describe the suspect appearing in the video as a white male with a chin strap style of beard, wearing tan or orange-colored coveralls, black shoes, gloves and a black fireman-style shield hat.

AND MIDNIGHT, TWO SUSPECTS BURGLARIZED SEVERAL VEHICLES IN THE MIRAMAR SUBDIVISION AND SURROUNDING AREAS.  THE SUSPECTS WERE CAUGHT IN THE ACT BY A NEIGHBOR WHO GAVE CHASE.  THE SUSPECTS FIRED A .45 CALIBER WEAPON THREE TIMES WHILE FLEEING STRIKING A RESIDENCE ONLY.  THE SUSPECTS STOLE A BLACK 2017 FORD EXPLORER WHICH WAS LATER LOCATED NEAR A TRAILER PARK IN THE 100 BLOCK OF PORTER LANE IN LAFAYETTE.  THESE SUSPECTS ARE WANTED BY THE LAFAYETTE PARISH SHERIFF'S OFFICE ON NUMEROUS CHARGES TO INCLUDE SIMPLE BURGLARY, ATTEMPTED SIMPLE BURGLARY, AGGRAVATED CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, UNAUTHORIZED USE OF A MOVEABLE, AND AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A FIREARM.

ON APRIL 10, 2018 AT APPROXIMATELY 7:00 P.M., SHERIFF DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO OSSUN ELEMENTARY LOCATED AT 400 RUE SCHOLASTIC IN REFERENCE TO A REPORT OF GUNSHOTS.  A REVIEW OF THE SCHOOL'S VIDEO SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS SHOWED APPROXIMATELY 14 MALES PLAYING BASKETBALL AFTER SCHOOL HOURS.  A FIGHT OCCURS BETWEEN TWO OF THE MALES AND AT THE END OF THE FIGHT, THE SUSPECT IS SEEN TAKING A HANDGUN FROM ANOTHER MALE STANDING NEARBY AND BEGINS SHOOTING AT THE MALE HE WAS FIGHTING.  INVESTIGATORS WERE ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE MALE BEING SHOT AT, BUT HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO CONFIRM THE IDENTITY OF THE SUSPECTS WHO DID THE SHOOTING.  THE SUSPECT IS DESCRIBED AS A BLACK MALE APPROXIMATELY 5'7" TO 5'9", WEIGHING APPROXIMATELY 140 LBS TO 160 LBS WEARING A WHITE T-SHIRT AND GREY SWEAT PANTS.

ON MARCH 11, 2018, A BLACK FEMALE AND TWO BLACK MALES ENTERED JAC'S STORE LOCATED AT 3217 EAST MILTON AVENUE IN YOUNGSVILLE.  THE FEMALE DISTRACTED THE CLERK BY DROPPING A BOTTLE OF BEER ON THE FLOOR.  WHILE THE CASHIER ATTENDED TO THE BREAKAGE, THE TWO BLACK MALES JUMPED OVER THE COUNTER AND FILLED THE TRASH BAGS WITH CARTONS OF CIGARETTES.  ALL THREE SUSPECTS FLED THE AREA HEADED TOWARDS CHEMIN METAIRIE IN A NEWER STYLE BLACK NISSAN MAXIMA.  THE VEHICLE HAD A TEMPORARY TAG IN THE REAR LEFT CORNER OF THE BACK WINDOW AND A CAR LOT NAME PLATE WHERE THE LICENSE PLATE IS DISPLAYED.

LOCATED AT 1906 AMBASSADOR CAFFERY AND STOLE A LARGE AMOUNT OF CIGARETTES.  ON DECEMBER 15, THE TWO SUSPECTS ENTERED THE DOLLAR GENERAL STORE LOCATED AT 2411 LOUISIANA AVENUE AND FORCED ENTRY INTO THE OFFICE WHERE THE SUSPECTS STOLE SEVERAL CARTONS OF CIGARETTES.

ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 2:15 P.M., LAFAYETTE POLICE RESPONDED TO THE 1200 BLOCK OF EAST PONT DES MOUTON ROAD.  OFFICERS LOCATED A 22 YEAR OLD MALE SEATED INSIDE A SILVER FORD F-150 TRUCK.  THE VICTIM, IDENTIFIED AS JALEEL LAMAR BONHAM, SUSTAINED MULTIPLE GUNSHOT WOUNDS AND WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.
 
ACCORDING TO WITNESSES, JALEEL WAS LAST SEEN ON SEPTEMBER 17 AT APPROXIMATELY 11:00 P.M. ENTERING HIS VEHICLE.

VEHICLE BURGLARY AT GREYSTONE APARTMENT COMPLEX

Lafayette Crime Stoppers and the Lafayette Sheriff’s Office need your help in identifying the suspect who committed a vehicle burglary.     

 

A Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s patrol vehicle was stolen on Friday, September 8, 2017, from the Greystone Apartment Complex located on Reserve Drive. After breaking into the vehicle, the vehicle was driven to a vacant home near the intersection of Pall Mall and Melody Drive. Once the vehicle was parked at the alternate location, the suspect was able to override the locking mechanisms and steal two firearms. One, a Glock 34 9mm pistol serial number BFGR344 and the other an American Defense Mod 2 5.56 caliber rifle serial number 1433. Also stolen was a ballistic vest.
